"Mom's Favorite Flowers"
Looking up over her garden, she smiled at me - took my hand and led me over to a potted plant she had on the patio. These, she said, are my favorite flowers .. they don't look like much before they bloom, but after .. watch out!
The little buds would stay all cooped up until the very last minute. I tended to be impatient and would give them a bit of help by popping them open with my fingers. Mom never found out - somehow I doubted she would approve of my gardening tactics.
